Election Time

For our unit on public officials and elections, our student teacher Ms. Morales discussed running for office and the election process. To demonstrate this, we had a class election and a grade level election. Students that chose to participate could bring buttons, posters, handouts, and speeches to persuade their classmates to vote for them. Everyone did a great job...we were so excited! Our classroom election winner was Lara! She then went on to run for the office of grade level president....and she won! Yeah for Lara! She did an awesome job! We are so proud! Thank you Ms. Morales for creating such a great learning experience for our class!

Author's Purpose

We have been working on author's purpose in class. The students learned that author's write for different reasons; to entertain, to inform, or to persuade. To review and close our unit, the students were given goldfish crackers and had to write to inform, persuade, or entertain using goldfish crackers as their topic. We had a great time and the class did so well!
Ask your child about this at home!

Center Time

We added a new center to our literacy stations this week. We are all excited about it! We added the game Boggle! The students have to use only the letters shown on the poster to make as many words as they can. They love this! Look for a smaller version of this game on their homework menu for this week!
